About Random Voice Chat

Updated April 28, 2026

Random Voice Chat is a small, focused project for live audio conversations with strangers. The product is intentionally voice-only: no video feed, no text chat, no public profile, and no app download for the core browser experience.

Why voice only

Voice keeps the human parts of a live conversation, like tone and timing, while removing much of the pressure that comes with camera-based stranger chat. The goal is a lighter experience that is easy to start, easy to leave, and simple to understand.

How the app is built

The web app runs in the browser and uses WebRTC for audio. A small signaling service helps callers match and exchange connection details, while TURN fallback helps calls connect across stricter networks.

Privacy posture

The MVP is designed around metadata, not call recordings. Operational records support reliability, reports, cooldowns, and abuse prevention. Voice audio is not recorded by default, and the product avoids text transcripts by not offering text chat.

Safety posture

Random matching needs fast exit and report controls. The product includes leave, rematch, report, cooldown, and admin review surfaces, and the safety model will keep maturing as real usage patterns become clearer.
